William married Susanna (born in 1778 in Clevedon, UK, died 11th September 1862 in Workhouse, Long Ashton, UK.), daughter of George White and his wife Hannah
Our initial problem in tracing
this marriage was solved by Josephine Jeremiah's suggestion that we
investigated the marriage of a Susannah White to William Farr
This information, along with the information that the 1783 Baptism was the only
possible Clevedon Susannah confirmed the link to Susannah's surname, White.
Additional proof of Susannah's surname was then found in the marriage of her
sister, Mary White, to William's younger brother, John.
William was described as illiterate and penniless in an article in the
Bristol Mirror of 10th February 1810, in which he is reported to be challenging the sale of Birdcome which he considered illegal. This action and its result is detailed on the Birdcome page in the History section.
